GOING
TO A CONCERT
by
Joseph
(The
Man w/the Cigar)
I'm
going to a concert, friends
My hippy hair unfurled
It's Peter Noone, I hope he sings
That song "End of The Whirled"
And Jezebel, you know that chick,
She wears the finest silk
But if he sings "No Milk Today"
Should I just bring some milk?
I hope he sings my favorite song
From my favorite old LP
Some guest musicians played along
On records... can that be?
I heard that Zeplin played some parts
But that's just balderdash!
If Jimmy Page was sitting in
They'd sing "A Kind of Hash"
Good thing the songs back then were clean
Parental warnings? Never!
Not on Herman's Hermits' tracks
Just wholesome fun forever!
So bring the kids to see the man
Who once asked Mrs. Brown
If he could take her daughter out
That lovely girl in town.
And bring your kin folk to the show
Yer maw, yer paw, yer cousins
And tell Aunt Anne to bring her kids
She's got 'em by the dozens
I wanna hear that song "Wild Love"
And "Take or Leave Your Lovin' "
I hope he cooks them all just right
Like cookies in an oven
I hope he plays "Hold On" this year
Each song that's from that movie
And "Upstairs Downstairs" come on folks
You KNOW that would be groovy!
O.k. I know he cannot go with
Everyone's request
But we'll receive, before we leave
The sounds we all know best.
Who knows? He just might sing that song
You've waited for to hear
And hopefully if he does not
He'll get to it next year!
