JUST
WHAT DO THOSE EYES OF YOURS SEE?
A letter to Peter Noone
by Debbi W
I sometimes wonder what it must be like
To see the world as you do
To experience the world from behind your eyes
And know what you're going through
Not every person has the talent and drive
To get to where you are
To call themselves peers with musical greats
And be a mega star
Not many have the personality
To touch the world the as you do
Not many have the ability
To see it from your view
I wonder how it must feel to be
On the other side of applause
With adoring faces smiling your way
Much the same as they do Santa Claus
How must it feel to have legions of fans
Listening for each word you say
To have them asking to hear your voice
24 hours a day?
I wonder how it feels to have to go on
When you know you really should not
When your throat, or your knee, or your rotator cuff
Is really not feeling so hot
Oh, what the degree of pressure must be
To never let anyone down!
From email, to chat, to autograph lines
To concerts the whole world round
How must it feel to know you're good
And have the audience reflect it?
How must it feel to make some slight change
And fear that they might reject it?
The standing ovations, the smiles, the screams,
The accolades, the packed showroom floor
The demands, the hours, lost luggage, late planes
'Fans' stalking your hotel door
Things good, things bad, things strange but grand
Things I just can't conceive
I've often wondered, from your vantage point
Just what do those eyes of yours see?
Yes, I've often wondered what it's like to be
Peter- the star and the man
If you ever have a free moment to spare
Please answer the best that you can
Until that time, please accept my thanks
For doing what you do
And for what you've done for 40 years
My total respect to you!
